Commenting on reports that the Health Secretary is not speaking on the main stage at the SNP conference, Scottish Labour's health spokesperson Monica Lennon said:

"Jeane Freeman has had a disastrous year failing to meet target after target - and now she is suggesting that she wants those targets to be scrapped.

"The fact that the Health Secretary has been relegated to the sidelines at her own party's conference speaks volumes.

"Proposing to remove performance measures after personally committing to keep NHS targets only 12 months ago is a new low for Jeane Freeman, who's management of our NHS has been nothing short of chaotic.

"It is clear it is no longer just the people of Scotland who have had enough of the Health Secretary's inability to keep patients safe."
