Scottish Labour have called on mental health services in Tayside to be re-escalated to the highest level of concern and placed under special measures.

Responding to the ministerial statement on the interim report from the Independent Inquiry into Mental Health Services in Tayside, Scottish Labour Health Spokesperson Monica Lennon said:

“Risk to patient safety is a pressing concern, and it’s surprising that no recommendations have yet been made in this interim report.

“Our thoughts remain with the service users and families affected and those who have lost loved ones.

“The Scottish Government must take urgent action to ensure mental health services in Tayside are escalated back to the highest level of concern and placed under special measures immediately.

“Scottish Labour will continue to push for urgent action in relation to Tayside to ensure the final report is brought forward as quickly as possible, and that recommendations are implemented when they are brought forward.”
